Assaggio was founded by father and son team, Jan and Marcin Kierno, together with Italian cuisine specialist and Adelaide renowned chef Camillo Crugnale. Jan previously a self employed baker and Marcin an experienced accountant, were about to embark on their dream and new careers as restaurateurs.
Camillo brought to the party experienced sommelier Orlando Bagnara and a team of chefs who worked together for many years with Camillo prior to the birth of Assaggio.
Within a year the partnership grew with Orlando and three of the chefs given the opportunity to ensure Assaggio’s care, consistency and attention to detail is well maintained.
Assaggio ( meaning to ‘taste’ ) offers a substantial menu with gluten-free and vegetarian options complimented with an extensive international wine list featuring large scale and interesting boutique producers and some imported labels with an emphasis on Italian style and Australian wines. Marcin Kierno’s own wine collection is also available to diners.
